Dr Mª Montserrat Rivera del Alamo obtained her degree in Veterinary medicine in 1997 and worked as a private veterinarian in an equine hospital. In 2003, she obtained her PhD at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in the field of boar spermatology. Afterwards, she developed post-doctoral research under the supervision of Dr Terttu Katila in Finland in the area of equine reproduction. She has been a diplomat of the European College of Animal Reproduction (ECAR), in the field of small animals, since 2009 and has become a member of the exam committee in 2023.
Her main research interests are canine mammary tumours, feline pregnancy and neonatology. She is the author and co-author of more than 60 peer-reviewed indexed articles and has contributed to more than 80 congress abstracts.
Currently, Dr Rivera del Alamo is a professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in the field of small animal reproduction and the head of the small animal reproduction service at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the same university.
