Paulo Borges graduated in the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), Vila Real, Portugal. Presented his master thesis in the topic of “Heat-Shock Proteins in the canine semen throughout cryopreservation techniques”. Paulo performed an internship in the University of Lisbon (FMV-UTL). During 6 years, he was an assistant consultant in the CERCA, ENVA (Centre d’Études en Reproduction des Carnivores) and co-responsible of the dog and cat breeding department (UMES) in the National Veterinary School of Alfort (ENVA) – Paris. He fulfilled the residency program of the European College of Animal Reproduction, in the CERCA-ENVA-Paris, becoming an ECAR diplomate in 2015. After one year working in a private practice in Paris, he did between 2017-2018, one year as a PhD student in the NeoCare Unit of the National Veterinary School of Toulouse (ENVT) in the field of infectious diseases in neonatalogy and pediatrics in dogs. Furthermore, he worked in the carnivores semen bank, CRECS, in the south of France for one year. He created the reproduction center of Atlantico Anicura Veterinary Hospital from 2020-2023. He now works as a reference consultant and lecturer in reproduction and collectivity medicine mainly in Portugal and he is the director of the reproduction services in Allvetcare Hospital and VetProtect clinic. He is an assistant professor in the Lusófona University in Lisbon, Portugal since 2016. He was the vice-president of the reproduction group in France, GERES-AFVAC. He was former secretary and now he is vice-president of the European Reproduction Group (EVSSAR). He has been invited to lecture in different countries in South America, Asia and Europe. He is also author and co-author of several scientific articles, along with several chapters of books and manuscripts.
